No conventional M96 intermediate shaft bearing problem: The Mezger Turbo does not share the well-known replaceable IMS bearing arrangement found in certain naturally aspirated M96 engines.

Exceptional tuning potential: With appropriate supporting modifications, some builders have developed Mezger engines producing well over 800 horsepower, and specialized builds have exceeded 1,000 horsepower.
