Car Art GMC Syclone Skateboard Deck Mercedes 7-ply Canadian Hard Rock Maple
🏁 GMC SYCLONE SKATEBOARD DECK – TURBO TRUCK GARAGE ART
Before performance trucks became a category of their own, GMC built something completely unexpected.
The 1991 GMC Syclone took an ordinary compact pickup and transformed it into one of the wildest performance vehicles of the early 1990s. Turbocharged, all-wheel drive and brutally quick off the line, the Syclone became a legend almost immediately.
This GMC Syclone-inspired skateboard art deck celebrates that unmistakable black turbo pickup and makes a unique display piece for a garage, man cave, office, game room or automotive collection.
Whether you owned a Syclone, grew up dreaming about one, or simply appreciate unusual performance vehicles from the golden age of 1990s GM, this deck was made for enthusiasts who know just how special this truck was.
🏁 THE HISTORY OF THE GMC SYCLONE
Introduced for the 1991 model year, the GMC Syclone was based on GMC's compact Sonoma pickup—but underneath its understated black bodywork was something very different.
GMC fitted the Syclone with a turbocharged and intercooled 4.3-liter V6 producing 280 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Power was sent through a four-speed automatic transmission to a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system, giving the little pickup incredible traction off the line.
The result was astonishing for 1991.
Car and Driver recorded 0–60 mph in just 5.3 seconds and a 14.1-second quarter mile—numbers that put the Syclone firmly in sports-car territory.
But the Syclone's most famous moment came when Car and Driver lined one up against a Ferrari 348ts.
The GMC won.
Suddenly, a black compact pickup truck costing a fraction of the Ferrari's price had become one of the most talked-about performance vehicles in America.
The Syclone wasn't simply a truck with a big engine. It featured upgraded suspension, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, performance tires, unique body cladding and a lowered, aggressive stance. Virtually everything about it was designed around performance.
Production was extremely limited, helping make surviving Syclones highly desirable among collectors today. Its combination of rarity, turbocharged power, AWD traction and unmistakable early-'90s styling helped establish the Syclone as one of the original American performance trucks.
Its DNA also lived on in GMC's equally outrageous Typhoon performance SUV.
Today, the Syclone remains a cult icon—a reminder of the brief moment when GMC decided that a compact pickup truck needed enough performance to embarrass exotic cars.
